as thoughts on what to do for the back panels, i decided to pull information straight from their web site about versa. i then threw in some filler text, and made the back panel a mailer so that this brochure can go postal.

grid has become the main focus of the identity. all grid formats are based off the logo in proportion to the size of the item. the business card size is proportional to the logo size.

Due to problems with creating the square mold, I’ve decided to turn to clear globe ornaments that I can fill with wax. Then, I can make the wax hollow enough to cool quickly, but also allow room to place the LEDs in at a later date. The battery life on one LED would last less than 3 days, making the rest of the piece time sensitive. Hollowing out the middle allows me to come back at a later date.

I’ve also decided to move away from the concept of taking ideas into the idea of how the internet is fostering new startup companies. Each wax "egg" is to represent a startup web-only company. A nest will be made from wires and computer cables and placed keyboard of a laptop computer. Even if the idea of internet is a bit of a stretch to gather from the piece, one will surely walk away from it understanding the computer and egg senses of the piece.

I need to correct the secondary copy location, as it overlaps the graphical type in an uncomfortable way, but these illustrate the direction the poster is taking.

Och, the Sweedish word for and is not necessary for the graphica copy, and I began to play with its removal (comps 3, 4, & 5). I also might change  word for bedroom (sängkammaren) to sovrum to help with the readability of the text, yet by doing so, I reduce the graphical copy by one line. I am afraid it will alter the visual path, however, I shall test this with further comps.

Its been a slow week, and I’ve forgotten to post an update on the status of Poster 02.

Typographic research has been completed using the OurType.be website, in which one can sample all fonts in a Flash-based word-processing application. Screenshots of potentials were taken and posted below.
